Everyone I've met and talked to that works here is a genuinely kind and helpful person. The food and coffee is great. Love the vegan and gluten free options of their menu and grab and go's. Their selection of organic and natural foods and products is great. The store has a bit of everything, from local artisans to leading green label organic manufacturers. Prices are a bit higher than other local grocers carrying the same or similar products, however if you buy a co-op membership, the discounts from that pay for themselves and levels the playing field. The vibe of the store is kinda like that of coming home for the first time and not realizing how much you've missed it.

3/9/25 the vegan bestie sandwich is always good, but wow... today is was amazing. Everyone is awesome here.
Also live off of their hot coffee with oat milk, vanilla, and salted caramel.

Tammy is the sweetest! Our daughter always looks for her when we are shopping. The pumpkin scones are delicious. The cooler area sometimes has an eggless tofu salad , and vegan potato salad, both are good. I wish they would add a vegan sandwich to the cooler for a quick grab and go, they have vegetarian ones though. We also like the bestie vegan panini from the cafe, and our daughter loves their smoothies. They also have a plant swap, and a kids play area so us mama's can grab a coffee & pastry from the cafe & let the littles play

Stopped here on a whim. We were looking for a healthier food option. We had Paninis and smoothies. Everything was delicious. Employees were friendly. Prices were very reasonable!!

What a hidden gem!! The food was delicious and the people are delightful. The vegetarian, gluten free options were yummy!

Was on a cross country road trip and needed to find a gluten free fast food option. While technically not a restaurant, Basic’s came up as the closest option near Hwy 90.

The store as a whole is clean and welcoming. The cafe staff was super helpful and the food was so satisfying. Highly recommend!

I love this place. My only problem was we never heard our name called when the smoothie was done. My child had to go ask about it. The smoothie had been put in the fridge when we didn't answer. We were sitting at the checkout. It's noisy there, SPEAK UP.

Great Coop store with just about everything you need from a grocery store. They even have a organic wine section with my favorite Stellar Organics Cabernet Sauvignon...

I was able to get a healthy meal at a reasonable price.And the staff is always very helpful

Members and non members can purchase the usual health food products along with a selection of local. Lots of parking and a bike rack. Also has a community room for reservations

Surprised by the quality of the espresso drinks and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff

Loved everything about the cafe food wise and the tables. Also loved they had a little nook for kiddos to play. The only negative thing I would say is that they need to mop there floors🤢 I put new clothes/socks on my 13 month old daughter and they were completely BLACK along with her hands from her crawling/walking on the floor and she smelled musty(like the floor hasn't been cleaned in god knows how long) so that is really nasty. I would definitely come again but maybe don't have your kiddos wear nice clothes?😵‍💫

This is a wonderful place. Great selection and their cafe is top notch. I’m doing a juice fast, so I’m really thankful and impressed that they don’t cut their healthy juice options with apple juice like so many other places do. Thanks Basics!

Ordered panini and classic smoothies a couple times via EatStreet. The food and drinks have been delicious without fail. Ingredients seem fresh and well-prepped, and it feels like the chefs care about how things taste. I don't like sandwiches much in general (too bready), but I can't stop eating the ones made here. This has by far the best sandwiches and smoothies in town, and I've been to several along Milton Avenue.

We ate at the Cafe, had paninis and a smoothie. Loved both!

Went in there while on business. I had coffee, mushroom barley soup and a cookie. Everything was delicious and the staff was super pleasant. I got some bulk granola (of course) for the way home. What a great place!

At first I thought, am I in the right place? But yes, inside the basics Natural Foods cooperative is a small Gem of a coffee bar. Staff is very friendly and they have a game where you can roll dice for a free coffee, which was sweet.

We were looking for a vegan restaurant while passing through Janesville and found Lucy's on the web. It's a little difficult to find as it's tucked inside a health food store (Basic's Co-Op). But Lucy was super helpful and very friendly. She offered samples of the soups, and helped direct the vegan in our group to the vegan options available among the vegetarian and "normal" options.

I decided to go to Starbucks in Janesville for my morning cup a Joe. The Starbucks in Target didn't open until 8:00 am. I was then directed to Lucy's .Oh My Goodness, what a friendly place!!! I met so many nice people there, & it is the official stopping point whenever I will be in the area.

I fancy a super tasty soup, and have found it here! The staff is awesome and very helpful. I've tried some tasty cookies and a couple soups, can't wait to try more!

Amazing food! We were on a 14 hour road trip and stopped for breakfast but bought lunch too because everything looked so good. Excellent service, $2 smoothie (you would pay $7 for in Nashville). Vegan, gluten free, healthy choices were everywhere. I would live in this town just to belong to this co-op!

I absolutely love Lucy's Loon Lake Coffee & Deli! Their Fresh homemade vegan & gluten free baked goods and soups are the best!!
